Joshua Green href="http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/06/sarah-palin-reg-trademarks-her-name/240685/">reports for the Atlantic, “A few months ago, an attorney for Sarah and Bristol Palin href="http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/02/02/protecting-the-palin-brand-sarah-and-bristol-go-for-trademark-s/">put in an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark their names.”

According to a reporter for Politics Daily, “the deadline to challenge Palin’s application passed on Friday and — amazingly — nobody seems to have challenged it. So it looks like the Patent and Trademark Office will award both patents in the near future,” writes Green.
